STA
Picks Up Route 9 as a Part of the 'Adopt a Highway'
Program
| The
STA once again led a contingent of Spackenkill
faculty, support staff, and students picking up
a section of Route 9 on October 23rd. The STA 'adopted'
the section of Route 9 between the Olive Garden
and Spackenkill Road as part of the state's "Adopt
a Highway" program and picks it up from time
to time. |

It
was a drizzly afternoon, but participants managed to
pick up 27 huge bags of trash, along with: four
double-hung windows, three tires (two included wheels),
two tabletops, one foam mattress, one broken plastic
lawn chair, and
one stolen wallet with credit cards intact (turned
over to police).
The
STA would like to thank the 'pick up crew,' which consisted
of six STA members (Maureen Black, Bonnie Fulmer,
Diane McCarron, Eleanor Pupko, Christine Scivolette,
Maureen Tremblay), two member of the support
staff (Karen Kardas, Lynda Maier),
three National Honor Society members (Danielle
Albertson, Mackenzie Hoffman, Andrew Shaffer),
and one spouse (Jim Fulmer).
